Principal, Dr. Bill Porter Message

Dear Mission Meadows Families,

Welcome to Mission Meadows Elementary School! My name is Dr. Bill Porter, and I am the proud principal of this wonderful school which focuses on providing a well-rounded educational experience to meet the needs of the “whole” child. Mission Meadows has the pleasure of educating students in grades TK-5th, where each student will have an opportunity to learn and successfully grow academically, emotionally, and socially.

For the 2016/2017 school year, there will be approximately 565 students enrolled at Mission Meadows. Our students will be in school for 182 instructional days beginning on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, and ending on Wednesday, June 7, 2017.  The school bell schedule for all students this year is: every Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:51 p.m. and every Tuesday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:18 p.m. Every Monday afternoon, teachers at Mission Meadows will be working in their respective grade-level Professional Learning Communities collaborating on curriculum and assessments to provide “real-time” instructional needs and supports for our students.

To help deliver 21st century learning, we offer 1:1 student-to-device technology. At Mission Meadows, every TK-1st grade student has access to an iPad, and every student in 2nd-5th grade has access to a student laptop. This coming school year will be filled with academic rigor, excellence, and growth opportunities for our students using the Common Core State Standards as our guide. Students will also be enriched academically this year through our new “MakerLab,” which is an open forum, student centered environment, powered by idea prototyping, where ideas can be cultivated and evolve through hands-on problem-solving. We are prepared to meet your child’s unique learning style and needs.

School safety is a top priority at Mission Meadows. The importance of safety is especially true when it comes to our school parking lot, as it can be very crowded and potentially dangerous.  If you drive on campus to drop off or pick up your children, you must follow the safety rules in place. School safety is also ensured through staff education and monthly emergency safety drills for students, where we prepare for a number of possible environmental catastrophes. Thank you in advance for your patience and adhearance to our safety rules because our number one priority at Mission Meadows is your child(s) safety.

Parent participation is highly encouraged here at Mission Meadows. Please consider volunteering in your child’s classroom and/or getting involved in the PTA, School Site Council, or ELAC committee. When you do arange to volunteer on campus, please remember to sign in and out at the office and wear a volunteer badge to ensure the continued safety of our students. Thank you in advance for volunteering at Mission Meadows to support the learning of all of our children; we hope you enjoy your volunteer experience.

The district uses a “paperless” system for school to home communication regarding school programs, activities, and community events. Please look for information coming home from a free service called “Peachjar,” an online flyer and school information program designed to help keep you informed and updated about our school. We will also keep our school’s website updated for your convenience as well. The Mission Meadows school website can be found at:

In closing, I am excited that you will be a part of the Mission Meadows Elementary School learning community. Mission Meadows will provide your child with a strong and well-rounded academic program. We plan to support your child as they grow academically, emotionally, and socially.  I look forward to a wonderful school year together.
